VISION

The vision of Kentucky’s Isaac Murphy Equestrian Center is to illuminate and educate the significant contributions African American Horsemen had on early thoroughbred racing in America, establishing a public equestrian facility that will serve as a historical landmark to preserve the history, heritage, and legacy of America’s “First Great Athletes.”

Narrative tales of this forgotten past will be accompanied with Fine Art, multi-media displays and interactive exhibits to recapture life stories that hold many positive and honorable lessons of triumph and successes in the face of great odds and will serve as true inspiring and educational curriculum relevant for current and future generations.

An equine outreach will be developed for at-risk youth along with a public equestrian academy to provide therapeutic riding lessons for children and adults with disabilities. A sanctuary for retired racehorse will be on-site to provide a tranquil and humane alternative for these majestic animals to serve out the remainder of their lives in a family-friendly educational environment.
